Matthew Neff The Bare Walls

Psalm 139:23-24 "Search me thoroughly oh God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." What a prayer! Can you imagine inviting God to know your thoughts! We know that He already does but that fact that we would invite Him to do it is amazing! It really shows David's heart for God. A few weeks ago my son Isaac mentioned that he was getting tired of the color of his bedroom. So after some careful planning to get… Continue

Wisdom Moon 10 Reasons Why A Church Should Use Twitter

By now hopefully you know what Twitter is. Now here are a few reasons why a church should get on Twitter: 1. It’s free marketing! In these tough economic times, churches are in need of inexpensive ways to get the word out about what they’re doing. 2. It’s easy! Most pastors are not that tech saavy. Twitter is very simple and easy to use. (If you need someone to teach you, contact me.) 3. It’s a way to communicate important news. You can tweet a… Continue

Matthew Neff "Look At Us!"

Acts 3:1-10 Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, "Look at us!" 5So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. 6Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ oContinue

Wisdom Moon A Warning For Pastors

A couple of years ago I was serving as the worship pastor of a church in Atlanta, GA. One day the lead pastor had us take a trip to a church far away to spend a few hours with their pastoral staff. He had heard that the church was doing some creative things and they were a “successful”, growing church. The lead pastor of the church we were visiting had charisma and they were definitely doing some innovative things that drew a lot of people. Once we got back our pastoral staff seemed so excited… Continue

Ben Abu Saada It's Not YOUR Ministry

Dumping of Gear = Dumping of Pride In January, 1993 I received Christ as my savior at the age of 18 years old. Leading up to that moment I found myself getting steeped in music. I had begun playing in bars surrounding myself with influences that would ultimately lead to a lifestyle that could be harmful to my health. Thankfully, God interceded and completely c… Continue

Wisdom Moon Leading Spontaenous Worship Part 1

I know not everyone is familiar with what spontaneous worship is. However, it’s pretty self-explanatory. First, let me define “worship” in the context that I’m using it here. By “worship” I am referring to the music and singing segment of the church service. One dictionary defines the word “spontaneous” as: arising from a momentary impulse or controlled and directed internally. Spontaneous worship is basically singing something new, something not written, on the spot. In some ways it’s similar… Continue
